Fundraising for children and primates in Africa and the UK

The Yebo story so far…

2007

An idea is formed by a group of volunteers while in South Africa to support children in Africa and the UK using animals and primate activities to allow children a therapeutic experience.

August 2008

The idea is supported by ‘The Great Primate Handshake, who make a small film in South Africa on the aims of the project.

October 2008

Handshake Productions support the work being put together in the UK and help Yebo prepare it’s website

The name Yebo and a logo is produced by Hellen Bersacola who is working on the project

March 2009

Yebo launch its website

May 2009

Yebo run its first UK children’s primate day with a children’s hospice organisation

Summer 2009

Research trips take place in South Africa and Uganda

Winter 2009

Primate days are developed with more children’s hospices

Yebo register as a community interest company as are not financially ready to register as a charity

March and April 2010

Yebo run its first volunteering pilot projects in South Africa and Uganda

Summer 2010

More primate days in the UK take place and 2 more projects in South Africa and Uganda are run

First sustainable project in Uganda is set up

September 2010

An active supporters group is being developed

Our aims now

To develop a board of trustees

To register as a charity by April 2011

To raise £250,000 to begin the charity as a registered working charity

Paid employment positions needed within the next 6 months:

-Full time community fundraising developer

-Full time fundraising manager

-Part time event coordinator
