Primate Days<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/h1>\n

Yebo are currently running UK based primate days for children. <\/strong><\/h2>\n

These are run either at your hospice,\u00a0 or at another appropriate venue.
\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Yebo Primate day is to provide children who are emotionally and socially disadvantaged with the opportunity to<\/p>\n

\"chimpanzee\"<\/h2>\n

– express their own family situations through creativity and role play.<\/p>\n

– relate human feelings, behaviour and characteristics to that of primates (our closest relatives)
\n– discover a safe way to express feelings and individual experiences through a fun and supportive environment.<\/p>\n

– have an opportunity to learn about conserving primates and the environment.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cChimpanzees are 98.7% like humans. They get sad,happy, jealous , angry and they can even be very stubborn. Sometimes you forget they are not completely human \u201d<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n

How does the day run?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Below is a guide to how the day may run, although each day is always structured to suit the needs of the individual children or young people we are supporting.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Primate days can take place at your hospice or support organisation.\u00a0 If appropriate, we will take children to visit organisations that house primates to allow them to observe their behaviour.
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

The children are shown examples of different primates, their feelings and behaviour through photographs and video, with individual stories of rescue and rehabilitation that happens in primate sanctuaries .\"Vervet<\/p>\n

Later in\u00a0 the day the children are split into different groups of primates and encouraged to make a family of primates with puppets, acting out a story using self expression and creativity about a family situation they think a primate family has faced.\u00a0\u00a0 This has proved to be successful in previous primate days with siblings of a childrens hospice and pre-schools\u00a0 allowing children to relate their own family situations through a safe environment. The older children are given the opportunity to use primate animation on the computer to build stories.<\/p>\n
