{"id":1442,"date":"2010-04-15T07:56:49","date_gmt":"2010-04-15T07:56:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.yeboyes.org\/?p=1442"},"modified":"2010-04-15T07:56:49","modified_gmt":"2010-04-15T07:56:49","slug":"children-visit-the-animals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.yeboyes.org\/?p=1442","title":{"rendered":"Children visit the animals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1443\" style=\"margin: 10px;\" title=\"Learning about wildlife\" src=\"http:\/\/www.yeboyes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/p1020457-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Learning about wildlife\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.yeboyes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/p1020457-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/www.yeboyes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/p1020457-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/>Over the period of 2 days the children from the previous homes we had been to arrived at UWEC for a tour of the animals and centre<\/p>\n<p>Upon the arrival of our visitors, the children were given a tour around UWEC visiting all of the animals.\u00a0 They appeared to really enjoy their trip and most of the children had never been to a wildlife park before.\u00a0 The children were shown all the animals and given a talk about the importance of conservation at the centre.\u00a0 The lions were very close up to the fence and some of the children were slightly wary of them.\u00a0 Most of the children had never seen any of these animals before.<\/p>\n<p>Peace who is the education officer for UWEC showed them around all of the animals and related all the animals to human families and feelings.\u00a0 Of course the chimpanzees were included in this talk, where Peace started making noises that the chimpanzees responded to and came running over calling back!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1444\" title=\"Learning about chimpanzees\" src=\"http:\/\/www.yeboyes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/img_1565-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Learning about chimpanzees\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.yeboyes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/img_1565-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.yeboyes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/img_1565-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.yeboyes.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/img_1565.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The children were told by\u00a0 Patrick from the orphanage that chimpanzees can be orphaned or abused just like humans can. Some of the children began asking questions about what do the chimpanzees do when they feel sad, angry or happy.\u00a0 Peace showed them with her body language and voice which made the children laugh.<\/p>\n<p>The first day the children were younger with a few older members of the home, who were in their late teens. The second day the children were mainly in their teenage years.
