Yebo aims to support children with emotional and social disadvantages through primate and animal-based communication activities.

We aim to relate human feelings, behaviour and emotions to that of primates (our closest relatives) allowing children to express their feelings and life expeiriences in a safe and non intrusive environment.

Uganda

In Uganda we will be working with primate keepers who work with chimpanzees, learning about their behaviour, feelings, communications and emotions and then applying this to the children we will be working with.  The local children are from different family backgrounds who have had traumas and social and emotional disadvantages. The projects you will taking part in allow these children to observe chimpanzees and work together with you and the staff to learn how to communicate their feelings through chimpanzee primate-based communication activities. This also aims to have a subtle educational experience about conserving primates in Africa.

Uk volunteering with animals and children

UK Yebo projects focus on child support organisations.  We are currently working with children’s hospices around the country working with siblingssupported by the hospice’s.  Primate days are run using primate-based communication activities to allow children to express their felings through relating their own family situations of loss and grief to that of Primates, who also suffer from this in the wild. This is done through creative activities such as puppet making and role play.
